EDA Collaborative Inc. prepared a master plan for the revitalization of downtown Woodstock which incorporated the results of a thorough review of such issues as city heritage, onstreet parking, economic prosperity of downtown merchants, preservation of downtown green space, location of street trees, special users accessibility, and civic identity. The process involved the valuable participation of the local community and the merchants through public meetings, questionnaires and open house sessions. The study resulted in a detailed analysis of the existing streetscape conditions, vehicular and pedestrian circulation and visual character. Alternative streetscape concepts were developed and a final preferred design solution combined aspects of each of these concepts. EDA was also retained to design and implement Phase 1 of the City Hall and Museum Square, a vital component within the downtown core.
