Vaughan Corporate Centre

City of Vaughan, Ontario

Project Overview

EDA completed the Vaughan Corporate Centre Streetscape and Open Space Master Plan Study, for a new vibrant, central urban district with regional importance for the City of Vaughan. The Vaughan Corporate Centre node (VCC) is located at the junction of Highway 400 and Highway 7.  At its full build-out, the node will be comprised of over 30 city blocks, and 264 hectares of civic parkland in ten locations, centered on a 1 kilometre segment of “Avenue 7”.

The main purpose of this Master Plan study was to define and design a system of streetscapes and open spaces; provide design intent, guidelines and standards that will ensure physical unity throughout the VCC for the long-term build out of the area; coordinate designs with proposed York Region Public Transportation initiatives; provide a basis for assessment of future development applications to ensure they are in keeping with the vision for VCC; and, devise a strategic implementation plan to guide funding and construction of the streetscape and open space system.

The project included consultation with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), one-on-one stakeholder interviews over a period of several days, and a day-long design workshop/ charette with 20 landowners/ local business owners, York Region representatives and other stakeholders for the project site.
