Sturgeon Valley Trails

Sturgeon County, Alberta

Project Overview

EDA Collaborative Inc. has been providing trail planning expertise to Sturgeon County since 2003.  EDA’s involvement began with the creation of the Sturgeon Valley Trails Plan.   The goal of the plan was to outline opportunities for trail development and provide guidelines for phased construction of a trail network, whether by the County or as a result of development.  The plan included recommendation on potential trail users, a conceptual plan and sketches detailing the proposed trail types, as well as an estimated cost of completing the network, broken down into various phases.

Once the plan was adopted, EDA became actively involved with the detailed planning and construction management of the proposed trails.  To date, EDA has overseen the construction of approximately 6 km of trails within Sturgeon Valley.  The trails connect residential developments with one another, with local attractions, and with time, regional trail connections in St. Albert, Edmonton, and Namao.
