City of Toronto, Ontario
EDA Collaborative Inc. completed the Master Plan, design development and construction phases for McCowan District Park for the City of Toronto. The site of McCowan District Park is a former dumpsite in the area of McCowan Road, south of Eglinton Avenue. The main section of the lands measure approximately 20 acres (8 hectares) with its main portion flanked by two narrow linear “wings”.
The Master Plan phase of work included a full inventory and analysis of the site, demographic and recreation needs assessment, facility fit exercise, development of several draft conceptual options, and a comprehensive consultation strategy which included three public workshops/presentations.
A new District Park had not been developed in the City of Toronto for a number of years. McCowan District Park was a tremendous opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site into an active, multi-use recreational focal point in Toronto.
